What Will Last?

Five Minute Friday one-word prompt: LAST

“Only one life, ‘twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.” –C.T. Studd

Questions often plague me:

“Am I doing enough for Christ?”

“Does my life make a lasting impression for Him?”

“How do I know?”

I didn’t get my Five Minute Friday post written yesterday because by 8:00 a.m. I was at our local Christian school with the privilege of bringing a chapel message about gratitude to the students. The best part was getting mobbed with heartfelt hugs and smiles!

Late morning, a friend visited me at home; we talked about life, then prayed and gave it all over to God.

Mid-afternoon I was back at the school to pick up a beautiful young girl and spent the next couple hours eating lots of sweet and salty snacks and playing a rousing game of Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego?.

I ended the day parked on the couch with my husband and dog, a steaming bowl of canned chicken noodle soup, and a perfectly toasted grilled cheese.

Today I woke asking God once again about my path and how to know if what I’m doing will last.

And He said to me, “Touching the lives of others will always last.”

Whether it’s a word of kindness, an offer to pray, a loving rebuke, a bright smile, a warm welcome, accepting an apology, choosing to forgive, texting an emoji, a friendly wave…

Touching the lives of others will go on and on and on.

Touching lives with the good news of a Savior will last an eternity.
